Budapest

De Budapest is de open hangplek opgezet en onderhouden door de mensen die wonen en werken op het WG-terrein coop. Het is gelegen aan een voetgangersstraat (Pesthuislaan) nabij het Vondelpark. De coop in een voormalig ziekenhuis dat in de jaren 80 werd gekraakt en in de jaren 90 werd gelegaliseerd, huisvest nu ongeveer 100 mensen, evenals vele non-profitorganisaties en kleine bedrijven. WG-ers en vrienden ontmoeten elkaar in de Budapest voor hun wekelijkse bierproefavonden op woensdag en voor de brunch op zondag, waarbij maaltijden en drankjes worden geserveerd in ruil voor donaties of tegen een prijs die de kosten dekt. Ook worden er vaak ad hoc speciale niet-commerciële activiteiten en evenementen gehouden.

U vindt de Budapest aan de Pesthuislaan. Halverwege de straat in een van de voortuinen zie je een Boeddhabeeld. (vandaar de naam Bud(dh)a-Pest) De ingang is de houten trap achter het beeld op en door het raam naar binnen! (rolstoel toegang mogelijk via een andere deur).

The Budapest is the open hangout space set up and maintained by the people living and working on the WG-terrein coop. It is located on a pedestrian street (Pesthuislaan) near the Vondelpark. The coop in a former hospital that was squatted in the 80s and legalized in the 90s is now home to about 100 people, as well as many non-profit organizations and small businesses. WG-ers and friends meet in the Budapest for their weekly beer-tasting evenings on Wednesdays and for brunch on Sundays, with meals and drinks served in exchange for donations or priced to cover costs. Similarly, special non-commercial activities and events are often held there on an adhoc basis.

To find the place, go to the Pesthuislaan. Halfway down the street in one of the front yards you’ll see a buddha statue. (hence the name Bud(dh)a-Pest) The entrance is up the wooden stairs behind the statue and in through the window! (wheelchair access possible through another door)
